Inspiration for Today: Family Gatherings

"The greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved - loved for ourselves or rather loved in spite of ourselves." --Victor Hugo

All it takes is a small gathering around the family dinner table to realize we are fragile and complicated creatures.  This year's Thanksgiving was tame in comparison to many I've had before, where the inevitable argument breaks out in front of a captive audience or old grudges are given a fresh turn around the living room floor.  And still we leave with hugs and kisses and plenty of forgiveness, because that's what families do.  We pass the gravy and move on.  We love, especially when it's hard, because if it were easy we wouldn't need one another.

Love and gratitude from my family to yours.

Ah, very timely. I really need this. I'm spending Christmas for the first time with family after a decade being away and I wonder how that would be like. I hope it's a peaceful one. :) Cheers!

Arni, good luck with your Xmas plans. That does sound a bit intimidating, but also very positive.

Love the quote. Love the wine cover! X

Thanks Inner Chick. The wine cover was a gift from my oldest friend--attached to a bottle of wine.
